Let's talk about UI reviews: how we judge AstroPal's design, in public
By the AstroPal team
Most app reviews talk about features. Few talk about the interface, even though the interface is where you either understand your chart or give up. So here is how we review our own UI at AstroPal, and what we are still fixing.
What does an astrology app UI owe you?
A chart you can actually read. A Kundli packs twelve houses, nine planets and degrees into one small square. On a phone, that is a design problem before it is an astrology problem. Our Kundli tool keeps the chart clean and lets you export it as a PDF, so you are never squinting at a screen in a consultation.
Plain-language labels. Vedic astrology has beautiful, dense vocabulary: dasha, antardasha, nakshatra, lagna. A good UI uses the real terms and explains them, instead of either dumbing them down or hiding behind them.
No dark patterns. No fake countdown timers. No flashing red warnings about your future. Fear is not a design system.
Where do we fall short?
Honest review means saying this out loud: a chart-heavy product is never finished. Every generation of phones, every screen size, every new feature asks the layout question again. We review the app the way we would want a user to, by opening the free tools and trying to get confused on purpose.
What would you review?
If you have used AstroPal, or any astrology app, what annoyed you first? The chart, the chat, the wording? That answer shapes our next round of changes.
Open the free Kundli tool at astropal.app/tools/kundli and judge the interface yourself.
